A learner driver was left fuming after an examiner cancelled his test – because there were crumbs on the seats of his car.

Jack Hyde, 18, was stunned when the examiner refused to get into his VW Golf because it was too dirty.

The teenager says he had cleaned the motor that morning and there were just a few croissant crumbs on the passenger seat and a dog biscuit in the footwell.

He now has to wait six weeks for a retest at Oxford Driving Test Centre and will lose his £62 fee.

Jack, of Berrick Salome, near Wallingford, Oxon., stormed: ‘As soon as the examiner opened the passenger door he said: ‘I can’t take you out in this’.  I couldn’t believe it.

‘He said he came to work in suit trousers and expected to sit on a tidy seat.
